Eight free agents who could add depth to the current Lincoln City squad

This one is self-explanatory really, but it’s also the only one I can find complication with. Hobbs has reportedly agreed on a deal with Bolton for this season, but given their current problems, the contract can’t be ratified. That leaves him in limbo, similar in some respects to Nicky Adams before he left Bury.

Hobbs would be a great signing for us, but for a position we already have a lot of quality in. We do need defensive cover, that’s not up for debate, but ideally someone who can play at full back as well as centre back. Hobbs is a centre back, but he comes with the added bonus of being ‘one of our own’. His name even fits the song properly.

For those who have joined us in the last decade, Hobbs came through the ranks at City before a big-money move to Liverpool after just one outing. He’s since racked up 306 senior appearances and has only once played outside the top two divisions; for Leicester City as they won League One in 2009
