27/02/2024, Lincoln City 3-0 Shrewsbury Town, 4.05

City’s 3-0 dismantling of Shrewsbury Town was one of those nights where the cliché finally rang true. From the first whistle we played at a ferocious tempo, pressing high and forcing errors, and after Jensen dealt with Shrewsbury’s only meaningful effort, the Imps took control. The opener came from a corner born of relentless harrying, Bishop reacting quickest in a crowded box to slide home. It barely reflected the dominance. Hackett went close, House and Taylor bullied defenders, and the visitors looked rattled long before the interval. The 1-0 half-time lead felt modest given the territory, intensity and chances created.
Any lingering nerves disappeared early in the second half. Erhahon, central to everything, won possession and fed Taylor, whose clever touch released Hackett to rifle home a superb second. From there it became a procession. House was a constant menace, twice robbing defenders, and when he was felled in the box after pouncing on another mistake, the penalty eventually led to a third as Sorensen’s delivery found the net after Bishop struck the post. With an xG of 4.05 and waves of red shirts flooding forward, it could easily have been five. Instead it settled at 3-0, a comprehensive win built on energy, cohesion and ruthless pressing under the Sincil Bank lights.
