Jake Hesketh
On loan: 2019/20, joined 2 September 2019
Parent club: Southampton
Jake Hesketh came through Southampton’s academy and had already appeared in the Premier League and Europa League before arriving at Lincoln. The attacking midfielder had also gained experience on loan at Burton Albion and MK Dons, helping the latter win promotion in 2019. His season with us brought 24 appearances across all competitions and one goal.
When he came in, there were hopes he might be a real handful, and for a while, he got picked over Jack Payne, which seems crazy now. He fizzled, but never caught light, and those Premier League aspirations faded, quickly.
Hesketh’s next loan took him to Crawley Town before his long association with Southampton ended in 2021. He then spent two seasons at Eastleigh before joining Sholing in May 2023. He remains listed in the Southern League club’s squad, having signed a contract extension in April 2025.
