Justin Obikwu
On loan: 2025/26, 1 September 2025 to 17 January 2026
Parent club: Coventry City
Is this fair? Justin Obikwu joined Coventry City after playing youth football at Harefield United and gained his first sustained senior experience during two loans at Grimsby Town. He scored ten goals across those spells before stepping up to League One with us. The Trinidad and Tobago international made 21 appearances for the Imps and scored three goals before Coventry recalled him in January 2026.
They sold him to Queens Park Rangers for £1m, which certainly caused a few eyebrows to be raised at the Bank. I know internally, the club liked Justin, but for me, there was an element of the Ollie Palmer, in that his strength was not knowing what he was going to do himself, leaving opponents struggling as well.
Obikwu’s return to Coventry was followed almost immediately by a permanent move to Queens Park Rangers on 19 January 2026. He left the Sky Blues without making a competitive first-team appearance for the club. He remains with QPR, but since leaving the Imps after our 5-2 win against Peterborough, he’s played 11 minutes of senior football, replacing Alfie Lloyd in QPR’s 0-0 draw with Charlton.
