Ben Osborn
I really liked Ben Osborn during our game against Stockport. He has enjoyed a long and respected Football League career, initially breaking through at Nottingham Forest before becoming a key figure during their Championship years, making more than 200 appearances for the club. His versatility and consistency earned him a move to Sheffield United in 2019, where he gained both Premier League and Championship experience across a five-year spell. After joining Derby County in 2024, injuries limited his impact before he spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Stockport County, where his adaptability again proved invaluable. Capable of operating at left-back, wing-back, in central midfield or even further forward, Osborn has built a reputation as an intelligent and dependable utility player with vast second-tier experience.
His spell with Stockport showcased exactly why he has remained such a valuable squad option throughout his career. Across all competitions he averaged more than 51 passes per 90 with an 80.3 per cent completion rate, while also contributing heavily defensively with almost 12 duels and more than 12 recoveries per game. His flexibility was remarkable, featuring at left-back, wing-back, central midfield and even on the wing during the campaign.
His numbers underlined the all-action nature of his game, particularly his crossing volume, work-rate and ability to retain possession under pressure. He’s 31, and has played all of his football in the top two divisions, bar his last loan spell.
