Ten Free Agents That Might Interest Lincoln City In The Championship

Archie Collins

Archie Collins has quietly built an impressive Football League career, progressing through Exeter City’s academy before becoming one of the Grecians’ most dependable midfielders across more than 190 league appearances. After helping Exeter achieve promotion from League Two in 2021/22, he earned a move to Peterborough United in 2023 and has since established himself as a consistent League One performer. While he does not have Championship experience, Collins has developed a reputation as a technically reliable and tactically versatile midfielder, capable of operating centrally, deeper in midfield or in wider roles when required.

Statistically, Collins enjoyed an excellent 2025/26 campaign at the heart of Peterborough’s midfield. He averaged 43.5 passes per 90 minutes with an outstanding 85.8 per cent accuracy rate, while also contributing heavily defensively with 11.3 duels, 4.7 interceptions and more than nine recoveries per game. He impressed in the 5-0 win against Rotherham United in March, where he registered a goal and an assist while completing 96 per cent of his passes, but there were several other dominant displays, including 101 successful actions against Bolton Wanderers and a 93 per cent pass completion rate in the win against Plymouth Argyle.

He might not be Championship ready, but we’ve already been linked with him. He may not produce eye-catching attacking numbers, but his consistency, energy and ability to dictate possession make him one of League One’s more reliable midfield operators.
