Ten Free Agents That Might Interest Lincoln City In The Championship

Tom Davies

Tom Davies came through the Everton academy and was once regarded as one of the brightest young midfielders in the Premier League, making more than 150 top-flight appearances for the Toffees after debuting as a teenager in 2016. He famously scored in a 4-0 win against Manchester City during his breakout campaign and later became Everton’s youngest-ever captain at the age of 20. After spells under Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce and Carlo Ancelotti, he joined Sheffield United in 2023 following the expiry of his Everton contract, adding further Premier League experience to his résumé before helping the Blades compete in the Championship.

Statistically, Davies’ 2025/26 campaign has been built around ball retention and defensive work rather than goals or assists, although he only appeared ten times. Across his appearances, he averaged 43.4 passes per 90 minutes with an impressive 81.8 per cent completion rate, alongside 18.3 duels per 90 and 13.6 recoveries, underlining his work-rate in midfield. He’s a decent age and has a good record of playing in the top two divisions, but his injury record isn’t great, with a persistent calf problem causing some issues.
