Ethan Wheatley
This is a new rumour, appearing on social media a few days ago. The Manchester United youngster is wanted by Everton, but as part of their academy set-up, by the sounds of it. I’d expect we’re hunting a loan, so a move to Everton might not negate a move to Sincil Bank. I guess this is the sort of move that has held up the Championship market, with United’s recent tour, and now Everton looking to build their younger age groups a little more.
I can see this being the sort of loan we might go for. It’s hard for us to offer top Premier League talent a role, wages being a big factor, but Wheatley is different. He’s done the hard yards in League One, was marginally successful at Northampton but not Bradford, but in terms of profile, fits us, as a hard worker, runner and grafter.
