Charlie Savage
Charlie Savage was first mentioned as a possible City target in May after a strong season with Reading, with Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday also reportedly keeping tabs on him. His price was initially suggested to be around £1.5 million before later reports placed the figure closer to £800,000, a significant difference given that the midfielder had entered the final year of his contract. Savage featured 43 times in the league during 2025/26, scoring twice and registering five assists, while his ability to play in more than one midfield role added to his appeal.
Despite those early links, there has been little to suggest City have taken matters any further. Savage is still a Reading player and his contract situation remains the key issue for his current club, who face a decision over whether to agree fresh terms or cash in before he can leave for nothing in 2027. Other Championship interest has continued to be mentioned, but no accepted offer has been reported and the Imps have not featured prominently in the more recent speculation.
