14: Cameron Stewart
Manchester United academy graduate Cameron Stewart reached the fringes of Sir Alex Ferguson’s first team and was included in a Champions League squad without making a senior appearance. He established himself with Hull City after initially joining on loan, although a serious cruciate ligament injury interrupted a promising start to his career. Stewart subsequently played Championship football for Burnley, Blackburn Rovers, Charlton Athletic and Leeds United, while later loans with Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers followed an unsuccessful move to Ipswich Town.
Stewart was a short-term signing, but his CV was so impressive. Unfortunately, like something ordered from Wish, the product didn’t match the advert. He probably wasn’t that bad: low risk, a roll of the dice, but that CV promised so much, but he went as quickly as he came. Two ACL injuries had really put paid to his career, which is understandable.
Lincoln proved to be Stewart’s final professional club. He retired from football at the age of 28 and later planned to retrain as a pharmacist in the Manchester area.
