John Marquis
John Marquis left Lincoln when his short-term deal expired in 2022 and signed for Bristol Rovers, where he spent the next two seasons. Shrewsbury Town followed in July 2024, bringing another eventual reunion with Appleton, before Marquis was released in the summer of 2026.
He joined National League side Woking on a one-year deal on 1 September and has made an immediate impression, scoring five goals in his first five league appearances. More than four years after his brief spell helping us stay in League One, he is still finding the net.
