Steve Guinan’s League career began at Nottingham Forest, although regular senior football mostly came through loans to Darlington, Burnley, Crewe Alexandra, Halifax Town, Plymouth Argyle and Scunthorpe United. Cambridge United signed him in 1999, Plymouth then brought him back in 2000, and Shrewsbury Town gave him another brief EFL stop in 2002. His strongest later spells came with Hereford United and Cheltenham Town, before Northampton Town became his final Football League club from 2009 to 2011.
His is a name I’d rather have forgotten, he was a terror to us. Twice he bagged for Cheltenham against us, both in 2005, then hit three at the Bank as we lost 4-1 in 2006/07. He moved to Northampton, scored against us, then dropped into the National League with Kidderminster, where he scored against us. Obviously.
