Alistair Smith
Smith scored his first City goal against Exeter later that October, but his longer-term opportunities proved limited. Tom Shaw kept him in the side, and he stayed there under the first few weeks of Skubala. A poor performance against Blackpool on New Year’s Day 2024 ended his spell with City and he joined Colchester United on loan in January 2024. Another loan followed at AFC Wimbledon for 2024/25, where he scored six league goals and helped the Dons win promotion through the League Two play-offs.
Released by City that summer, he made the move to Wimbledon permanent on a two-year contract and has continued as a regular in their midfield in League One.
