Paudie O’Connor
O’Connor continued to captain City after Kennedy left and enjoyed a rather happier meeting with Burton in August 2024, scoring twice in our 3-2 opening-day victory. He remained with us until the summer of 2025, leaving after 141 appearances in all competitions when his contract expired.
Reading secured his signature on a four-year deal, although a pre-season injury delayed his debut until October, when he finally started against Exeter City. He was forlorn on the final day of the season as he watched his former teammates celebrate promotion to the Championship, something he will be chasing this season with the Royals.
