Steve Holmes
Steve Holmes had already overcome a serious neck injury by the time of this game, but another injury suffered in an FA Cup replay at Bury in November 2001 would bring his Lincoln career towards its end. What initially appeared to be a knee ligament problem became infected and required surgery, keeping him out for the remainder of the season.
He was released in the summer of 2002 as we cut costs, having made 201 league appearances across his loan and permanent spells back at the club. Steve returned to the north-east to play for Dunston Federation Brewery, spending three seasons there before retiring in 2005 and moving into work away from football.
