This is very much open to interpretation. Due to undisclosed fees, it’s not clear if we beat the Walling fee at all, but it’s assumed not. When Bostwick signed, he did so at the same time as Harry Anderson, with a reported combined fee of £150,000. The general assumption was that we combined the fee so neither player had the pressure of being the club record.

A sensible split, one would imagine, would have been £100,000 for Bostwick, a top-end League One player, and £50,000 for youngster Anderson, which would make Bozzy our club-record fee. One thing is for certain: the pair commanded the first six-figure fee, at least matching our transfer record.
