1978: Tommy Tynan, £33,000
With inflation: £185,835
Appearances: 9
Tynan is remarkable because he was a top-end lower-league striker who scored goals for fun. When he signed for us, it should have been the start of a new era, instead, he left with fewer than ten matches under his belt. Stories of his time here are amusing, but probably not for the club at the time.
He might be the only club-record signing in history who ended up scoring more goals against the club that bought him (11) than he did make appearances for that club.
